Description:
This Henry was engraved by Hogson with floral scrolls. Typical for the early 1st Models. This gun is in the 1400 serial range. In Wilson's Engraving Book there are quite a few factory engraved 1st Model rifles all within a few numbers of this one. They all have similar engraving. This one has all matching numbers. Very fine walnut stock may have some linseed oil added. Barrel has sharp corners with excellent markings and a bright shiny bore. Original sights Some very fine little pits by the rear sight. Lever functions very well as does the front end extension. Swivels like it should. Receiver has good sharp corners with the brass having turned a pleasing mustard color. This is a fine example of an early engraved Henry rifle from January 1863.
