Description:
Lucius W. Pond produced these pistols1861 to 1870. They were produced in a " Navy .32rf and a .44 Army version.the first approx 1,000 were produced with only Lucius Pond markings the later pistol were marked with "manufactured for S&W patent 1855" Due to s patent infringement of S&Ws owning of the Rollin white patent of a bored thru cylinder. This is an exceptional example finished in the original White. This is the Navy belt pistol in .32 rim fire. It has the 5 3/8" bbl. It has a good to very good bore. Bright with sharp lands and grooves with some typical black powder pitting .these pistols were revolutionary at the time but unfortunately suppressed due to Smith and Wesson owning the rollin white patent. Approximately only 5,000 produced of both calibers. Accounting for them being so rare today. It has a beautiful pair of original rosewood grips with almost all the  original finish.  Mechanically it is in good condition it cocks, indexes  and dry fires well. The only problem is the locking bolt spring needs re-attachment and adjustment. Over all this is in great condition and would make a fine addition to any early cartridge pistol, or Civil war collection.it is rare to find this pistol in this condition.sold as is. serial # 088. no FFL required.
