Description:
This is a preproduction version of the Combat Cobra made for Lew Horton in 1986 so they could display the model prior to its actual production. The gun is in the King Cobra serial range with "KC" prefix (the 1,000 production Combat Cobras have a special "CC" prefix), but conforms closely to the specifications for the production guns, including the "COMBAT COBRA" engraving on the left side of the barrel (the right side of the barrel is devoid of markings). The bright stainless finish has a few negligible handling marks, but is otherwise in excellent condition. The rosewood grips are in fine-near excellent condition with some overall surface wear on both panels. The lock-up is tight, and the action functions flawlessly. Included with the revolver is a 2022-dated Colt Factory Letter that confirms that this revolver was manufactured for display at the 1986 NASGW show in Denver, CO (National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers) before being shipped back to Colt. It was subsequently shipped out on December 23, 1986 to Lew Horton in Southboro, MA for their display at the upcoming SHOT Show (confirmed in Colt’s records). This is a one-of-a-kind version of one of the most desirable "Snake Gun" variants, and would make a splendid addition to any collection. FFL
