Description:
"

Very scarce Whitney-Enfield type Civil War rifle. Overall length is approximately 49”. The 33” round barrel is approximately .59 caliber smoothbore. The bore is good. Metal has a brown patina with light freckling. The hammer and bolster area have light pitting. The stock is very good with no cracks or chips. There are wrench marks on the barrel near the breech. This is the very scarce Type III rifle with saber bayonet stud and no patchbox. It is also fitted with the long-range ladder/leaf sight. The action functions correctly. Only about 200 were made. Some companies of the 10th Rhode Island infantry were equipped with these rifles. This rifle also has the scarce brass trigger guard. Here’s your chance to get a rifle that is missing from most Civil War collections. Don’t miss this one!
