Description:
Serial #422, .38 CF, 3 1/4" barrel with a fine, bright bore that has some traces of mild freckling within the grooves. This early production revolver has matching numbers on the frame, barrel, and cylinder, with the metal retaining about 40-50% of the original nickel finish that has bubbled and flaked to the underlying plum-brown metal on the balance. The heaviest finish loss occurs on the barrel and cylinder, but the markings along the left side and along the rib are still crisp and legible. Original color case-hardening is still visible on the hammer, with the balance turned to a mellow, freckled gray-brown color. The checkered hard rubber "JMM" grips are in fine shape with only mild flattening of the points, and no chips or cracks. The lock-up is tight with minimal lateral play in the barrel, and the action is fully functional. This is a seldom seen Marlin revolver that rates very good condition overall. Antique
