Description:
Standard 24 inch octagon barrel chambered in 38 WCF caliber with a good shiny bore and full length magazine. Sights include a beaded blade front and a standard sporting rear. Most thinning original blue remains on the barrel while the mag tube is thinning to a plum/brown with more blue in the protected areas. Receiver has about 75% original thinning blue with a few light striation marks showing on both sides. Good traces of case color on the hammer and lever. Good crisp action. Dust cover is tight. Straight grain walnut stocks are in very good condition exhibiting some nice figure and retain a good amount of original varnish. Rifle style crescent butt plate. Factory letter confirming configuration. A very nice example of an honest looking Model 1873 rifle that was made in 1885.
