Description:
Offered for sale is a Colt Single Action Revolver in 44 Caliber.  The gun is an Intermediate Black Powder model with the serial number 66663, manufactured in 1882.  The revolver was originally a 7 1/2" barrel with a blued filnish, but was returned to Colt to have the barrell shortened and the gun refinished in nickel.  As was common with many of these reworked revolvers some of the parts were mixed resulting in a gun with serial numbers that do not match on all parts.  In this case the serial numbers are the same on the frame, trigger guard, barrel, and the cylinder.  The number on the butt strap does not match, but is of the same general time frame, as would be common with a renovated revolver.  This work was done by either Colt or one of Colt's Major Distributor. The gun is 44 CF as marked on the left side of the trigger guard web.
The gun is in excellent mechanical condition and functions as designed.  The nickel finish aprox. 70% as applied.  The stocks are well worn, nut fit snugly to the gun with no chips or cracks.
This very nice revolver will make a great addition to any Colt collection or as a great Cowboy Accion Shooter.
