Description: General Specs: Browning, Year 1969, 12 Gauge, 6lb 11oz, Chokes IC/M, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 1/2", DAC 1 1/2" Serial Number: 98870 S9 The Browning Superposed is one of the finest over/under shotguns in history and one of John Browning’s most prolific designs. Production of the Browning Superposed was done in Belgium, running strong from 1931 through 1977 when regular production stopped. In 1967 Browning introduced the Superposed "SUPERLIGHT" in the 12ga. and finally was born a true upland bird gun. Available only in Grade 1 until 1971 when all the engraving patterns were catalogued, the Superlight was an instant success amongst upland hunters. A typical Browning Lightning 12ga. weighed about 7 1/4lbs. At 6lbs. 11z. and balanced perfectly on the hinge pin, this 12 bore Superlight is over 1/2lb. lighter! This is a dynamic upland bird gun, with its straight hand stock, rounded frame, and slim field style forend that can be carried all day without fatigue. This gun, sn98870 S9 built in 1969, is in new condition with 99.5% factory blue on the metal (only wear is where safety button moves) and only the lightest handling marks in the wood finish. The 26 1/2" IC/M choked barrels have perfect bores and are tight as new on the hinge pin and breach face AND WITH SOLID RIB! The wood is lightly figured with no cracks or repairs, perfect checkering and wood to metal fit, superb finish and a 14 1/4" LOP to factory butt plate. They only produced 4300 or so 12ga. Superposed Superlight guns IN ALL GRADES AND GAUGES during the entire production run at the FN plant, compared to over 260,000 total Superposed produced, so it is not a common gun, especially one found in the same configuration as shipped from the factory with no pad added or choke alterations and still in gorgeous condition. THIS GUN COMES IN THE ORIGINAL FACTORY BOX. This gun will work equally well on the sporting clays course as in the uplands. See below for the specifications of the gun. WE HAVE SALT-TESTED THE STOCK ON THIS GUN AND IT IS CERTIFIED SALT FREE AND COMES WITH A VINTAGE FIREARMS CERTIFICATE STATING THE SAME. The Browning Superposed Superlight 12ga. guns have been going up in value in the last few years, so they are a great investment quality gun that will be worth more in the future as you care for it and enjoy its use.
