Description:
A fascinating example of American ingenuity, the Blake bolt action repeating rifle! Produced in New York, between 1899 and 1910, J.H. Blake produced a military and civilian version. This firearm is a Civilian version and as each one is unique to the customer ordering it, this one has some peculiar features. A rear peep sight, not seen on any other photographed rifles. A 26" barrel, the normal were 30 inches for the rifle and 24 inches for the carbine. No serial number. We do not know if the customer ordered it that way or if Blake left it off for other reasons. And it's in an unknown .40 caliber, possibly a custom order for a customers favorite chambering. Known issues; Rotary "clip" is missing one of the cartridge sections. (see pic). The ejector has been filed on for unknown reasons and its spring needs adjustment. Most of the screws show screwdriver damage. The barrel has internal pitting and rust toward the breech end. Unknown
