Description:
The 788 was produced as a plain rifle to compete with the Savage 340 and others of the same ilk. It turned out that it shot so well it competed with the flagship Model 700 and people chose the 788 over the 700 as well. It features rear 9-lug lockup, 22-inch barrel, and detachable magazine. This one is in excellent shape and does not appear to have been fired very much and has been well-maintained. The barrel date code "LW" would place manufacture in the 1972 time frame. .243 Winchester
