Beautiful Pair of Austrian Flintlock Pistols. Each lock is engraved with a scene of two men on horses firing pistols at each other with puffs of smoke emanating from the muzzle. The locks are also engraved in both scroll leaf and framed around the lock with flat leaf decoration. All very professionally executed! The butt caps are scenes similar to the lock plates with horsemen on firing at each other. The button on the buttcap is a grotesque mask of a cameo figure of a man surmounted with a crown at the top of the Cameo. The stoks are relief carved. Trigger guards feature a hunter with a musket and his dog. All the mounts are in relief and with gold overlay. The sideplate depicts two figures on horse back pursuing a third figure holding a sword, all in a woodland setting. The barrels are gold inlaid in Arabic which we believs is a prayer to Allah but we are not certain. Barrel length are 11" and overall length is 18". Actions work perfectly. Barrels are browned (Which makes the gold lettering even more enhanced!) Bore are approximately .55 caliber. Overall condition of the pair is excellent.
