Description:
Handsome scalloped frame Westley Richards Best boxlock game gun from one of the top British gunmakers. Profusely engraved with beautiful fences and lots of residual case coloring. Automatic Deeley patent ejectors, 30” nitro steel barrels, double triggers, and auto safety. Nicely figured straight grip stock and forearm. Westley Richards no. 15216 was made in 1895. Weighs 6lb 2oz which makes this a lightweight game gun that is easy to carry for a day of upland gunning.   ***   The 30” nitro steel barrels have a top extension, auto ejectors and are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, 2-1/2” ammunition is being imported into the US again, principally from Gamebore and RST is producing these desirable low pressure shotshells as well.. The barrels are topped by a raised solid concave gamestyle rib which is inscribed “Westley Richards 170 New Bond St London”. The bluing is in very good condition with a few handling marks from normal usage. The bores are shiny and bright. The right barrel is bored 0.736 with a constriction of 0.014 for Light Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.022. The left barrel is bored 0.737 and has a constriction of 0.015 for Light Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.020.   ***   The straighthand stock and splinter forearm are made of very nicely figured European walnut with a checkered butt. The flat top checkering is crisp. There are some handling marks on the wood from normal usage. The forearm is secured by a Deeley forearm latch which is nicely engraved. Stock dimensons are 14” to a checkered butt by 1-3/8” by 2”. Cast off for the right hand shot.   ***  A very nice example of a British Best boxlock lightweight game gun that is easy to carry for a day afield and packs the power of a 12 that weighs like a 20 bore. Handy, great handling and appealing to the eye.  ***   Please note that the photographs are part of the description. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period which begins when it arrives at the buyer’s FFL or specified address if the gun is classified as an Antique. Returns at buyer’s expense.
