US Springfield Model 1873 Trapdoor Carbine manufactured in 1882 - serial # 1870xx. One of the most sought after US military firearms ever made. Rifle is in very good - excellent condition. This is a true carbine, not a cutdown rifle. Caliber 45-70 - 22” barrel; front blade in integral base – “C” marked rear sight. Front band has "U". The butt plate has US stamped on top. The stock is factory drilled for cleaning rod storage.Cleaning rod door works properly. The finish appears to be original. The walnut tiger wood stock is excellent and solid.The lock has eagle & US Springfield - the breechblock US Model 1873 – barrel VP. Mechanically sound; functions perfectly & safely with a nice tight action. It has an excellent bore, bright & shiny with strong rifling. Shipping $45 with exceptions.
