This is a percussion musket used in the civil war era to train recruits to resist flinching from the percussion cap going off close to their face. While I was hunting when I was very young with a famous graduate of West point. He noticed I was flinching when I shot my dad's 12 ga.He told me about a percussion training rifle they had in the museum at West point. I remembered that and when I visited there in the 70s. I Saw one of these. It was over 20 years before I was able to find one. Now I have had this one for 30 thirty years. It is time to pass it on. Due to Health. This example is in excellent working condition.in the original finish . With a blued hammer. It has a good bore.However does have some dings and compression dents in the stock but overall in very good condition. I see these listed as high $ 2,000.00i. This is a Chance to own a very Historical and interesting item.
