For sale is a Colt Single Action Army in 44-40.
The pistol has four matching serial numbers, frame, trigger guard, back strap and cylinder all have SN 42516. Colt stopped putting serial numbers on the cylinder at 110,000 range, making original numbered cylinders very rare. Manufactured in 1878, this is an ATF antique and will ship directly to your front door. 1878 was also the first year Colt introduced the 44 WCF for its pistols, making this a very early and rare first-year production for the caliber. Original one peice walnut grips. The action on this pistol is perfect. Two clicks to half cock and two more for full and tight lock up. Bore is fantastic considering age. I would not hesitate to shoot this old gal with black powder loads.
