Description: Offered here is a very nice-looking Model 1840 Light Artillery Saber and Scabbard made by Ames in the middle of the Civil War. The saber is stamped “U.S./A.H.C./1863” on one side of the ricasso and has the Ames banner address clearly visible on the other side. Matching inspector initials of “A.H.C.” are stamped on the knucklebow. The saber has a very nice-looking blade, the leather wrap on the hilt is original, showing some wear and a bit of flaking, and the original grip wire is present. The saber comes with an original scabbard which fits like a glove and is free of any major dents. There are also inspector initials stamped on the drag of the scabbard, but they are hard to make out. Please take a look at all the photos as they provide the best description of condition. Shipping to the lower 48 contiguous states. Shipping charge $45 towards cost of Priority Mail with full insurance. Three day return privilege, buyer pays return shipping. SOLD |
