New items added daily! Description: This is a high-end example of a Colt New Service "Target" Revolver, manufactured in 1912 and chambered in .45 Colt. All matching with a 7.5" barrel. The New Service Target models are more scarce and desirable because they featured an adjustable rear sight, hand checkered front and back straps, and hand-honed action. This was the most expensive Colt revolver of the era, made for target shooters and high-end customers. This example also has a front sight blade with brass bead, which is another optional feature for the Target revolvers only. The side plate also features a stylized "C" only used for a few years by Colt. The gun retains roughly 90% of its original high polish Colt bluing. There is thinning on the grip straps and areas of wear around the muzzle, on the underside of the trigger guard, and on the high edges in general. Roll mark on the cylinder. There are small handling marks and scratches here and there (most noticeable along the barrel) and a small ding in the metal on the left side of the top strap. Beautiful fire-bluing (and hand checkering) on the trigger. Fitted with very nice period-correct hard rubber grips - a couple of tiny chips near the bottom edge of the left panel. Excellent bore with strong rifling. The cylinder is tight, and the action is smooth. This is a rare variation and highly collectible Colt revolver. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
