Description:
This is an original 58 Cal. Model 1861 Springfield Rifle. It was made by Savage Revolving Firearms Company. Savage made 25,520 of these rifles between 1862 to 1864 for the U.S. Govt. in the Civil War. Savage was one of over 20 contractors who supplied over 400.000 rifles to the Union Army. It has the correct swelled shank ramrod but the threads for the accessories has been cut off. Or the ramrod is probably a reproduction. The lock functions perfectly at half and full cock. The nipple appears to be a new replacement. 2 barrel bands show the U stamp but the small band is dinged and I cannot make out the U. The leaf sight is blued and is correct. Email all questions also requests for photos of certain areas will be sent within 24 hours. Shipping is $45.00 to most states. AL, HI, CA, OR and WA add $20.00. Money back if not satisfied with the buyer paying the return shipping.
