Early 19th Century MASSIVE BORE MANSTOPPER
Here we present an antique British Flintlock Coat/Pocket Pistol, made circa the early-19th Century in London, England. This pistol is of relative small size for the large size of the bore at a massive .80 caliber, which would be a great deterrent to a “ne’er do well” looking at this big black hole. This one also has a built in ramrod that is captive on a hinge beneath the barrel so that this crucial piece of the gun would not be easily lost. The smaller flintlocks, such as this one, is what would be carried in the busy streets of Paris or London in the pocket or coat of a gentleman.
The overall condition is very good. Nice twist pattern on the barrel. Excellent action. The bore is in very good shape for its age, remaining mostly bright. Solid stock all around with a sharply checkered grip. “SANDERS” marked lock. “LONDON” marked barrel. What appears to be “JK”, is inscribed on a plaque at the wrist.
