Description:
Stunning Colt-Thompson Model of 1921 "A" in very good original condition. The very first production run of the famous Thompson, the Colt produced 1921 models left the Colt factory starting in, unsurprisingly, 1921 - and this ultra-low three digit was one of the very first! This is in the correct early "A" model configuration with no Cutts Compensator and retains all early features including the "Automatic" and "Semi-Automatic" selector markings. Condition is is a very good unrestored original. All bluing and markings are original and show no signs of alteration. Receiver flats have very minor pitting but no active rusting and retain the correct bluing color; worst flaws are around the ejection port, see pictures. Small parts like trigger and bolt handle retain excellent blue. Friction spots on muzzle and rear sight protectors show normal thinning of the finish. Fluted barrel sections are free of rust on tops and grooves. Lyman sight has darkened but works properly. Wood on pistol grips and stock are excellent with no major flaws and only minor darkening from normal handling. Stock is excellent except for buttplate which shows worse metal condition than rest of the machine gun; the trapdoor opens normally and there is an original cleaning kit inside (which we will leave to the buyer to fish out if they are brave enough!) Bore is very fine with strong lands and grooves. All mechanical functions work properly. Comes in a period canvas bag with storage for the gun, detatched stock, and a number of stick magazines. One original blued magazine will be included in similar condition. A very fine original and unrestored Thompson, this is among the earliest we have ever seen come up for sale and would make for a fabulous investment.

Fully transferable NFA item. All rules apply.
