Description:
German M1898/05 rifle Bayonet & scabbard with frog from WWI. This is a nice example of a Fichtel & Sadhs Schweinfurt, late type 98/05 with a trimmed muzzle ring and with flash guard. The blade is excellent original condition, light oxidation freckling, no chip with correct tip, length is correct at 14 3/8", has been sharpened once. Handle is also in fine condition with nice brown patina. There is a little surface oxidation on pommel, handle and guard. The frog is in very good condition with fairly supple leather and only a couple stitches missing. The scabbard is in very good condition with a good deal of bluing with surface oxidation, under the frog all of finish is worn away. Spine markings correct with manufacture date of 1917.
