Description: This Springfield Model 1896 Krag rifle is a great find, acquired from a gun collection through a special buy these rifles are highly prized by collectors. This particular rifle has standard markings on the receiver with a faint cartouche on the right side of the stock, with a circled "P" on the wrist. It features standard pedestal blade front sight post with a ladder 1901 pattern carbine rear notched sight, military blued finish and oiled stock, with a smooth metal butt plate with trap door for cleaning supplies. The metal is good overall with light wear and a brown patina beginning to form in areas. The wood stock has light pitting and the hand guard has minor scrapes, scratches and dents. The rear sling swivels are absent as well as the wood cover for the sight, and the safety is missing. The bore appears to have some pitting and is a bit frosted.
