Description:
General Specs: Remington Rand, Year 1943, .45ACP, 39oz, 5" Barrel
Serial Number: 1424917
Vintage Firearms Inc is pleased to offer this extra fine World War II U.S. Remington-Rand Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol, it includes a Type 2 Model 1916 Enger-Kress holster marked 1942 with knotted lanyard. The pistol is all correct with original finishes throughout. The gun is Parkerized showing 96% finish with some areas of holster and handling wear, exactly where one would expect to see a holstered combat gun show signs of handling and use. This Remington Rand 1911A1 was manufactured in 1943, it has an "FJA" inspected frame, stamped trigger, thin checkered hammer, checkered thumb safety, serrated slide catch and arched mainspring housing, 2nd variation Keyes Fiber grips with reinforced rings around the screw holes and reinforcement ribs on the inside. The pistol is correctly fitted with a High Standard barrel with a bore that is mirror bright with sharp rifling. The action is excellent, Remington Rands are known to have exceptional reliability and are considered amongst the best of the World War Two produced 1911A1’s. The acceptance marks FJA belong to Lt. Col. Frank J. Atwood was the U.S. Army Ordnance officer in charge of war production in the Rochester district of New York from 1942 to 1946. The frame also has a P proof mark under the magazine catch. The Slide markings are the type 3 variation and on the right side of the frame are an Ordnance Department wheel and crossed cannon, U.S. Property marks and serial number. This is a great time to invest in historical artifacts. This 1943 manufactured Remington Rand 1911A1 is a prime example, a gun that can be used and admired while gaining value. The pistol ships with one two tone magazine. One would have to search far and wide to find a better example! Thanks for looking!
