Description:
Winchester model 1866 3rd model saddle ring carbine SRC. Serial number dates this rifle to 1881. Condition is consistent with age. Bore is really rough. Looks to be original condition finish to the metal and wood with consistent patina all over. Looking at the bbl markings it is 3rd model in my opinion but you decide. The caliber has been converted to center fire and you can see both of the holes in the bolt face that indicate it was most likely originally rim fire. Possibly 44 Henry Center fire but we make no positive claims of the caliber. Or when or where the conversion was done.
