Description:
The Iver Johnson "Sidewinder" was made from 1961 to 1978 by Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works in Fitchburg, Ma from 1961 to 1975 and Middlesex, NJ from 1975 to 1978. The basic design of the Sidewinder, aka; Model 50, was born in 1955 with the Model 55. The Sidewinder also shares common parts with models 55A "Sportsman", 55SA "Cadet" (2 1/2" bbl), 56A Target, (a starter pistol) and 57A Target, (Sportsman Deluxe). The Sidewinder is a solid frame, all steel, double action revolver with an ejector rod and loading gate. It was available with either an oversize walnut western style or large plastic imitation stag grip with the famous "Owl Head" logo. Most serial numbers for this model had a "E" prefix. Less than 100,000 were produced. Some unusual features include the one piece grip, adjustable mainspring and unique cylinder features.
