"Serial number 17543. Made in 1875. 45LC caliber with a 7 ½" barrel. This gun is in Mint condition as restored. The barrel is likely a replacement. This gun was inspected by W. W. johnson who is one of the rarest of the military inspectors and sub inspectors. There are several guns in this serial number range that were issued to the 7th cavalry that was made of troops raised in September and October of 1876 in Bismark, South Dakota. These units ere known as “Custer’s Avengers" This gun comes with a letter of authentication from noted Colt Single Action expert John Kopec. He declares it all original and awarded this gun the coveted Golden seal reserved for only the original and finest guns at Mr. Kopec’s discretion. This gun was restored to new condition after Mr. Kopec’s examination.
