"Serial number 3946. Made in 1874. 45 LC caliber with a 7 ½" barrel. This gun has a gun metal gray colored patina. Grips are very good, but no cartouche can be seen. All markings are clear and sharp. The “U.S." marking has been reapplied. This gun comes with a letter of authentication from noted Colt Single Action expert John Kopec. He says that the closest gun in his survey was from the 8th Cavalry. Mr. Kopec also makes note of the restored US marking
