SERIAL NSN. BARREL 20". CALIBER .50RF This carbine was the first metallic cartridge bolt action adopted by the U.S. Army .The bolt does not contain a firing pin. Bolt is used to seat the cartridge and seal . Only 1,001 of these carbines were manufactured in 1865 for the Union Army. Features a walnut one piece stock, single leaf rear sight, single barrel band. Lock stamped US LAMSON & CO. WINDSOR VT.
