This is the rarest of all the foreign military contract Colt 1911 pistols - a Russian Imperial contract of 1916. A few thousand of commercial production Colt .45 pistols were sold to the Russian government in 1916 but most were lost during Russian revolution of 1917 and the Civil war that followed. Very few original guns made it to the west with the officers of the retreating White Army. This appears to be one of those guns. It is all original with finish turned greying brownish patina. All the components are correct. The bore has strong rifling with peppery pitting in the grooves. Grips are in very good shape. Two-tone mag.
Left frame inscribed in Cyrillic: "English order", as these were ordered and shipped through the Great Britain channels.
Factory letter accompanies the gun verifying the shipment to Imperial Russian government in 1916.
