Description: Boxlocks - This Scottish gun from Edinburgh while appearing worn on the outside is actually a fairly stout and strong gun. The barrels are tight on face (they ring beautifully) and the bores quite nice being bright and free of any heavy pitting. What there is extremely fine and could easily be polished out if desired. The gun was nitro proofed in 1968 according to the proof marks on the flats. Obviously ready for the field as is but this would be a fun one to give a new oil finish to the wood and with a light pick up of the checkering. I would have the barrels browned by Buck Hamlin to bring back their former beauty. *For those that will ask: That is a scratch on the surface of the stock on the right side of the butt stock near the butt, not a crack. It would be gone if properly oil finished. *** Note: To see this gun with high resolution photos and a zoom-in feature, go to the vintagedoubles main site and search for the gun ID: 3173 or browse the main site to see our full gun collection. |
