Description:
This is a rare configuration for a Pre 64 70 in 300 H-H. It was made in February of 1949. This configuration is detailed and pictured on page 136 of "The Riflemans Rifle". The rifle pictured was made in the same month. The combination of a clover leaf tang, an undrilled rear bridge and the last variation safety is almost exclusive to the H-H length actions. It is in excellent condition with the blueing approaching 98% with the exception of the buttplate which shows a little more wear. The wood has some handling marks and compressions and a little finish flaking but you have to have it your hands to see most of this. I would rate wood in 96 to 97%. Very nice and rare 74 year old rifle. The action screws are very nice as are the correct and original sights. There are no tool marks showing the sights have ever been removed. Caliber designation says 300 Magnum as it was the only one when it was made. This changed to 300 H-H soon after as the 300 WBY and improved versions became popular. These rifles are becoming nearly impossible to find in this condition let alone at this age. Shipping and insurance will be extra. No sales to any state this rifle may be prohibited in. Know your state laws before making purchase. Make sure your dealer will accept shipment from an individual.
