Napoleonic Wars Era Martial Fighting Pistols
Here we present an antique Pair of Irish Flintlock Officer’s Pistols by Bryan, made circa the mid to late-18th Century in Cork, Ireland. These are a matched set of pistols made for fighting purposes. Overall lengths are 12-1/2” with 7” barrels in .67 caliber. Hand-checkered stocks. The locks are marked “BRYAN” and the barrels are marked “CORK” with pre-1813 proofs in ovals. The ramrods are captive on swivels so as not to lose these vital pieces of the guns, especially on horse or ocean. One of the guns has a neat repair on the left stock flat which has had an iron plate affixed across the break.
The overall condition is very good. Original patinas. The actions are both strong, though the one with the stock repair hesitates to drop when the trigger is pulled. The bores are smooth and patinated. One of the pistols has period repairs to the stock while the other remains solid throughout. A great set of Irish pistols from the late-18th Century!
