This is a 1931 Bankers Special which was issued to federal Railway Mail Service employees. To counter the many hold ups and robberies of mail on the trains, these were issued. Has markings of such on blackstrap. Rack number No. 12638 is marked on butt. Has GWA inspection mark on left front trigger guard but is very small and hard to see. This is Col. George A. Woody. Finish shows wear on muzzle and high edges. Some surface scratches but no major gouges or pitting. DA/SA has strong lock up with minimal cylinder movement. Stocks are intact with no chips
or repairs but are worn almost smooth. 38 S&W. Not 38 special. Early square butt. Later models had a round butt.
