New items added daily! Description: This is an extremely rare, original example of a Sauer K98 High Turret sniper rifle, the first we've ever offered. In 1939, the Wehrmacht started a sniper program, and the turret sniper was the result of this program. In late 1943 the front base and front scope ring of the low turret was modified and thus became the high turret. The reasoning for this simplification was most certainly to produce a more cost effective, easier to produce sniper system. One of the results of this simplification was the front turret being 4mm taller. This is an original such example, with matching numbers throughout. The finish is original with minor speckling on the sides of the barrel, and minor oxidation in a few areas. Strong, shiny bore. Comes with cleaning rod, sight hood and original leather sling. The scope mount is numbered but mismatched to the rifle. The scope is an original Dialytan 4x example with 'dkl' marking. It shows finish loss around both front and rear hoods. The optics show a clear reticle but are a little cloudy and dirty around the edges of the viewing field. The stock has various dings and nicks, and there are a few areas showing some minor "splintering" but no cracks or structural issues. It has Heer Army marked on the right face.
