Description:
Here is a wonderful and unique custom sporter by John Jongmans, a native of the Netherlands who emigrated to New Zealand.  Jongmans was an engineer, and quite innovative.  Not only was he chambering the 7mm-08 cartridge in the South Pacific just a year after it’s adoption by Remington, but his action design also displays entirely innovative features like a hardened replaceable breech ring (a design invented by Jongmans and later picked up by Accuracy International in their sniper systems).  Competent armorers can replace the ring instead of the entire action if the lug seats should ever significantly wear.

Jongmans produced fewer than 500 rifles, with probably no more than a couple of dozen left-hand actions among them.  Nearly all of Jongman's rifles are in New Zealand or Australia, where they are highly sought after.

This example was built in 1982.  The octagonal barrel is 22" with a perfect bore.   The action is smooth, and the tang safety is of Jongmans' design.  The rifle features a Leupold Vari-X 3-9 scope with duplex reticle, mounted in Jongmans' proprietary rings.  The classic sporter stock is of figured European walnut.  The length of pull is 14 3/8" including a 1" pad.  The weight (scoped) is 8 lbs 10 oz, and (unscoped) 7 lbs 9 oz.

A unique and beautifully made piece.
