USPS registered mail Payment Types Accepted: cashiers check, money order Description: Up for your review is a pair of first generation Colt single action pistols. They came into being in 1891 and probably very soon after their birth became an exact matched pair. The serial numbers are not sequential but very close and the grips and engraving are precise replications of each other. To examine one pistol is to examine the other as they can not be differentiated from each other in any way except for the serial numbers. Both have been engraved in the style of the New York engravers of the time with very nice punch dot backgrounds and beautiful arabesque scrolling on both revolvers. The grips each have the same high relief horned cattle head on the right side of one grip and the left side of the other as would be required if double holsters were used for carry purposes . Both are made of some material other than Ivory as best I can tell with the possibility being bone or maybe some type of polycarbon that has aged appropriately with time. The guns have been silver plated in years past and have tarnished with age but certainly 95% of the original plating remains on both pistols. No flaking or significant wear is present. The bores show changes consistent with the use of black powder many years back and the actions on both pistols are very good with all hammer notches being present and solid lock up when the hammers are in the cocked position. The serial numbers on both pistols match up as they should with the exceptions being on each loading gate which is to be expected. This is a very nice pair of old Colts in nice condition presenting themselves well when viewed together. The pictures should support my contentions but if questions arrise I'll try and answer them through the Guns Internationalsite or the telephone. Thanks much for taking a look.
