Payment Types Accepted: Visa,Master Card, Discover,Check Description: This is a very scarce Smith & Wesson Model 4566TSW Kentucky State Police pistol in .45 ACP in excellent all-original condition overall.  This pistol was part of a group of approximately 1,000 guns purchased by the Kentucky State Police to replace the S&W Model 1076 that they were carrying.  After receiving the order, the Kentucky State Police abruptly changed their mind and decided to go with the Glock G22 in .40 S&W instead.  The last-minute switch to the Glock 22 left the majority of these 4566TSW pistols in new, unissued condition.  The Kentucky State Police ended up selling a large number of the 4566TSW's they had at a public in Frankfort, Ky. in order to help fund the Glock pistols they had already purchased, thus we now have them on the collector's market.  The KSP S&W Model 4566TSW's were different than the standard commercial 4566TSW pistols offered by S&W.  This double-action semi-automatic pistol featured a stainless steel slide and frame with a satin finish, a 4.25" inch barrel, an 8-round magazine, a straight backstrap and straight checkered frontstrap, matte black frame and slide controls, an integral barrel bushing with the slide, a open port on top of the barrel as a loaded-chamber indicator, and a 1-piece checkered black plastic wraparound grip.  Where the KSP version differed from the commercial model is that it had a bobbed spur-less hammer, a de-cocker that did not function as a safety as well, it was not fit with a black picatinny rail mounted under the frame, it was fitted with Novak 3-dot night sights instead of standard 3-dot sights, and finally it was marked with the KSP logo and given a KSP serial number in addition to the factory serial number.  This particular example is serial number 750951 and KSP serial # KSP0951.  It is in very good to excellent condition inside and out with absolutely perfect mechanics.  The satin-finished stainless steel is still bright and clean, rating 95% plus with the deductions coming from a few tiny handling marks, some very light fading of the warning on the right side of the slide, and a very small somewhat glossy spot above the word "Tactical" on the left side curve towards the top of the pistol.   Outside of that warning, all of the factory etched markings are still fully intact and fully legible, as-are the special KSP markings and handsome logo on the right side of the frame.  The factory matte-blue finished controls, factory night sights, and trigger are all in very good condition except for the Tritium being dead in the night sights due to age.  The bore in this Smith is mirror-bright and in pristine condition, with perfect sharp rifling and no visible pitting or imperfections of any kind.  The factory 1-piece checkered black plastic grip is in excellent shape, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or visible wear of any kind outside of a couple of tiny nicks in the checkering  The action on this 4566TSW is extremely smooth, slick, and precise, and the frame-to-slide fitment is as perfect as it gets.  The barrel to slide lock-up is tight with no wiggle, and all of the controls on this pistol are in 100% perfect working order.  This KSP Smith & Wesson 4566TSW should still function just as reliably and accurately today as the day it first left the factory 20 plus years ago.  Whether you are a collector of State Police guns in general, Kentucky State Police guns specifically, or just a collector of Smith & Wesson handguns, this rare KSP 4566TSW .45 ACP pistol would be an excellent addition to your collection, and should continue to be an excellent long-term investment if it is well cared-for.            SOLD Handgun Caliber: .45 ACP (.45 Auto) Manufacturer: Smith & Wesson Model: 4566TSW Kentucky State Police Contract Serial Number: 750951 / KSP0951 Barrel Length: 4.25" Inches Condition: Excellent Metal Condition: Very Good / Excellent Bore Condition: Mint Action: Semi-Auto Finish: Stainless Steel Sights: Novak Combat-Style Night Sights Manufacture Date: 2000 Extras: 1- Factory 8-round Magazine
