SOLD This Smith & Wesson was produced in 1950. The pistol's serial number is S 147156. It is fitted with the standard 6 1/2 Inch 44 Special barrel. The frame is the early 5 screw frame. The sights are the standard target style sights. The grips are the large wrap around grips with the early diamond checkered center screw hole grips. The color cased hammer and trigger show strong color. The action works smoothly with no issues. The bore and chambers are bright and clean with no issues. There is the usual drag line between the cylinder stops. The original bluing would rate a 97% or better condition. The grips are in fine condition showing some wear. This model Smith & Wesson only saw 5,050 total pistols produced. This 5 screw frame 44 Special is rarer than trying to find a 5 Screw frame 44 Magnum that was roughly produced in the same time frame! This is a beautifully balanced 44 Special that has all of the looks of the early 44 Magnum's. This uncommon pistol is seldom encountered on the market.
