The Savage 99 was ahead of its time. This rifle was used afield, but the user maintained it well. The action locks up tight, the bore is in very good shape, and the wood to metal fit is very good. Chambered in .300 Savage, this would be an excellent rifle for Whitetail hunting. .300 Savage
