Description:
Holland & Holland Royal Hammerless Self Opening shotgun in 12 Gauge. This is a sidelock ejector game gun. The chambers are 2 1/2 inches. The serial number is 31829 and it was manufactured in 1928. The 26 1/2" chopper lump barrels are fitted with a swamped game rib and are engraved "Holland & Holland." "98. New Bond Street London" on the tops. The rear portion of the rib has a gold inlaid "1". A matching number is on the top lever and the forend tip. The barrel flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 2 1/2" chambers. The Holland patent self opening assist spring is installed. The case hardened "Royal" sidelock action features automatic safety ("SAFE" inlaid in gold). It features hand detachable sidelocks, gold band tumbler end cocking indicators, and double triggers. The action is engraved in classic "Royal" style with full coverage well cut varying sized shaded scroll. "Holland & Holland" is in classic arched device on each lockplate. The bottom of action is engraved "ROYAL""SELF-OPENER""PATENT 1922". Fences are engraved with acanthus at centers flanked by strap work and floral scroll. The blued top lever is engraved "ROYAL""EJECTOR". A single beaded trigger guard with scroll on bow has the serial number on the short tang. The lightly figured and well marbled European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14 3/4" over checkered wood butt on 3" lengthening piece that is fairly well matched. The stock features drop points, point pattern checkering on diamond hand and gold oval engraved "L.S.G.". It has a matching splinter ejector forend with Anson release. The weight is 6 lb. 6 oz. It includes a vintage "VC" case with stitched leather corners by Abercrombie & Fitch. The case is lined in burgundy cloth. It has green 13 Bruton Street H&H label in lid. Case contains square oil bottle, A&F snap caps and a bone striker bottle with this guns serial number containing strikers. 12 Gauge
