Extremely Rare 1892 Winchester Saddle Ring Carbine with an 1873 Winchester Carbine barrel on it. Very few 1892 Winchester Carbines had this oddity. See George Madis's book (I believe the second edition? the last copyright date is 1985) page 383. Mr. Madis explains this rarity very nicely. This is a early 1892 having a low serial number of 23,455 manufactured in 1892 at the very end of the year. The over all condition of this 1892 SRC is a nice rich even brown patina with some scattered light pitting in some areas. Carbine functions smoothly. I will rate the bore a 6 on a scale from 1 to 10. It may clean up better. Both forend and buttstock are in good condition showing the normal handling marks that you would expect to see from a gun of this age. Correct ladder sight graduated up to 9.
