For sale is a very nice AYA 4/53 12 gauge. Serial # 543059. The barrel flats are proof dated 12/70 which indicates a 12 guage with 23/4 chambers.. The barrels are 26” with silver bead front sight, mirror bores, choke markings of improved and modified and in excellent overall condition. Bluing in excellent condition. The AYA was originally purchased under a C&R FFL license and will be sold as same. The barrels are also stamped with a Interarms name indicating it as a pre 1970 import. Choke IMP and MOD.
The flat rib is concave with AYA Aguirre & Aranzabal - Made in Spain. The rib is in great shape with no marks and light scroll work at breech ends of barrels. The receiver has disk set strikers whichn are removable. Scroll work as pictured on receiver, with scroll work on trigger guard and bottom of receiver. Scrollwork on top of receiver and lever running down to safety. Top lever centered or slightly right of center when locked up and very tight. Safety marking in gold. Safety switch is raised for easy off and on and functions. Furniture in very good to near new condition, few minor crease marks, checkering on butt end and wrist checkering still crisp. Ejectors are excellent and strong and will throw hulls 5-6 feet. Double triggers have crisp pull and retain original bluing. For-end has light scrolling at release end and a small 1/4 inch shrinkage splinter which is tight and not thru wood where it fits to receiver. Has been stabilized as well. Receiver locks up tight and on face. All in all one of the nicest AYA’s of this vintage you will find. Has only been fired a few times since I have owned, with low compression shells. Will ship to your FFL or C&R FFL license.
Additional Information. This AYA was probably originall sold in the USA by "YE OLD HUNTER", a storefront sales office of Interarms in Alexandria, Virginia, which closed in 1970-72. Interarms at one period was the largest importer of firearms in the world, and their offices on the waterfront in Alexandria imported thousands of firearms for resale as well as new firearms from manufacturers. It is estimated that Interarms may have sold as much as $100 million a year in firearms.
