Introduced in the worst year of the Great Depression in 1933, the Model 65 saw very limited production and sales. Production ceased in 1941 with only 5,704 rifles being produced. Of these 1,502 were in .25-20, 2,549 were made in .218 Bee and only 1,277 were made in .32-20 making this the scarcest caliber in this already scarce model. This example shows fine deep blue on the barrel with hardly any wear. The receiver shows most of the blue on the sides and bolt with some thinning to gray fron handling on the bottom of the receiver and a little on the edges. Original buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and correct ramped front sight with Marble/Sheard marked blade/bead sight. Fine stock and forend with tight wood to metal fit shows only light handling with a few surface chatter or rub marks on top of the comb- minor. Retains the original checkered steel butt plate. Good blue on the forend cap. Correct exc. markings. Excellenbt screws, tight action, solid half-cock notch on the hammer and exc. sharp bright bore. These don't show up very often. $3950.
