Description:
General Specs: L.C. Smith, Year 1947, .410, Weight 5lb 13oz, Chokes M/F, LOP 14 1/16", DAH 2 13/16", DAC 1 7/16"
Serial Number: FWS8828
There was a total of only 2400 L.C. Smith Field Grade .410's made.  This gun, serial number FWS8828 made in 1947 by Hunter Arms Co., is an example that has been thoroughly restored to new by Vintage Firearms, Inc., including Turnbull case colors. The buttstock remains in excellent, factory original condition with a 14 1/16” LOP to the factory buttplate.  ALL PARTS ARE ORIGINAL TO THE GUN.  Most of the .410's being offered for sale are well worn, have short stocks, butt pads, etc. that make them more common and less desirable.  A gun like this one is unique and certainly one of the better examples to add to your collection for viewing and shooting enjoyment.  Vintage American double shotguns are highly sought after, being great financial assets that grow in value as you enjoy their use for fowl and clays.  Those choosing the small-bore guns as their passion choose from a tiny pool of guns, as the .410 bore is a low production gun that is hard to find in high condition.  In fact, of the prominent American double gun makers, only Parker, Ithaca, and L.C. Smith made their shotguns in the diminutive .410.  Most are aware that the Parker fetches well over the $20,000 mark, and for some reason the Ithaca has a smaller following.  That leaves the L.C. Smith, America's only commercially successful sidelock action available in the .410 bore, as the most desirable and affordable of the American small bores.  The best guns for your collection and for investment are always going to be high condition guns representing the best of their kind.  There is always a buyer for high condition, low production .410 American doubles.  THIS IS A VFI CERTIFIED GUN WITH A 90-DAY MECHANICAL WARRANTY.  VFI HAS STRIPPED THE ACTION TO THE SMALLEST PARTS, ULTRASONIC CLEANED AND SCRUBBED ALL PARTS TO SHINY METAL, INSPECTED ALL FOR INTEGRITY AND FUNCTION, LUBRICATED AND REASSEMBLED READY FOR DECADES OF TROUBLE-FREE USE, A $275 SERVICE IN OUR SHOP.  VFI CERTIFIED GUNS provide confidence you are buying a fine shotgun that will provide years of service in the field. A L.C. Smith Field Grade .410 restored to historical perfection is a very attractive little shotgun that will take game and break clays while putting a smile on your face.  She is gorgeous!  See the specifications below.  Thanks for looking.
