Description:
An Early Civil War Percussion Sharps New Model 1859 Carbine Identified To "Co. D, 10th Ohio Vol. Cavalry" In Very Good Untouched Condition. Serial #48,464 which is an exact match and identifies the carbine directly to "Co. D of the 10th Ohio Cav."  All original and complete. The carbine has very good metal and markings on it. All of the metal is untouched with a natural darkening patina on it. The wood on it is in good condition showing natural wear as expected for a carbine used in the civil war. There is an old civil war period hairline check in the wood in the top of the comb. The carbine has a very good rifled bore and action.
     The 10th Ohio Vol. Cavalry had very good civil war history and was in 79 battles and skirmishes during the war. They were engaged in all of General Kilpatrick's movements during Sherman's Atlanta Campaign. Some of the main battles were: "Chickamauga, Ga, Cosby Creek Tn, Tunnel Hill, Siege Of Atlanta, Jonesboro, Sweetwater, Bear Creek Station, Waynesboro, Ga, Aiken S.C., Monroe Cross Roads, & Averasboro, N.C. The regiment lost in battle 3 officers, and 39 enlisted men. They did not muster out until July 24, 1865.
