Description:
For sale is a MANNLICHER-SCHOENAUER MCA-61, 30-06, SN: 33807, 22-inch barrel, single trigger, manufactured in 1961 “Steyr-Daimler-Puch A.G., Steyr”, Austria. This rifle likely inspired the "mountain rifles" and certainly modern rifles with Mannlicher stocks. It’s characterized by a flat "butter knife" bolt handle in the white, Schoenauer spool magazine, split rear receiver ring and indexed screws. There are two (2) safeties; traditional located from behind the bolt handle, and another on the right of tang. The traditional safety (redundant) was eliminated in “63”. It was promoted as the "World’s Finest Rifle" and that very well may be true. Author Ernest Hemmingway was a fan and hunted with a Mannlicher-Schoenauer Carbine mentioned in some of his stories. The high cost of forging and hand machining eventually put it out of reach of most hunters. This rifle is in its original condition and was disassembled, inspected, cleaned, polished with Renaissance wax, and in excellent mechanical condition.
