Description:
The A.J. Aubrey shotgun was manufactured by the Meriden Firearms Company, Meriden Conn., a firearms division of Sears & Roebuck company. Serial 31404 is a 12 gage with 30 inch Krupp fluid steel barrels with excellent bores choked full and full. This is an engraved grade S30. Guns were made in 7 grades. Any of the engraved models are considered rare. Albert James Aubrey served many roles and eventually became President of the Firearms Division at Meriden for Sears from 1908-1916 with 8 firearms patents in his name. These were very well-made serviceable side-lock guns with a triple bolting bar action. It is in excellent original condition with beautifully blued Krupp barrels that 'ring' well and locks-up like new. The case-hardened receiver retains about 85% of the original case-colors. The 18 lpe checkered and capped pistol grip stocks are in very good condition with a few minor dings & multiple tiny surface scrapes. The length of pull is 14 1/8” to an original black plastic butt-plate that also has the Meriden Firearms Co. under a flying duck scene. The DAH is 2 ¾” inches and 1 ½” inches at comb. A rare old high grade engraved gun suitable for standard 2 ¾” loads. FFL or C&R
