Description:
For your consideration is a 1918 dated Gewher 98 chambered in 8mm Mauser. This rifle features a very good rated bore, mostly bright with strong rifling and areas with minor oxidation. The smooth beech stock shows a moderate 7" flexing crack on the right side between the barrel bands, smaller cracks at the tangs and adjacent the recoil bolt, and the toe is somewhat shy of the buttstock. The metal surfaces have mostly toned to a deep gray and plum-brown patina showing some scattered light oxidation and some old pitting. The rifle is also marked with Arabic numerals on the barrel. All of the numbered parts appear to be mismatched, and the rear sling swivel is an old replacement. Front sight is missing. 8mm Mauser
