Description:
Up for sale is an exceptionally fine contemporary manufacture Holland & Holland DeLuxe Mauser rifle chambered in .300 H&H Magnum. This exquisite rifle features profuse factory engraving on the action, barrel, scope rings, grip cap, cross bolts, and sights culminating in a beautiful highly detailed vignette of a leopard sitting in a tree on the magazine floorplate along with “4 Cartridges” engraved near the floorplate hinge. The barrel is 24.5” and engraved “HOLLAND & HOLLAND, BRUTON ST, LONDON” and “.300 H&H MAGNUM RIMLESS” near the front ring of the action. The barrel also features a barrel band front sling swivel with ramped bead front sight with fold down hood and rear express sights features one standing leaf marked 100 yards and one folding leaf 200 yards both with a gold inlaid center line and “150 gr” engraved on the front of the standing leaf denoting the sights were calibrated for the 150 gr bullet load. This rifle also has Holland & Holland factory detachable scope mounts with the rings marked “H&H” and the rifle’s serial number. There are two scope options included with this rifle. Both are set up with factory quick detachable H&H rings engraved and SN’d to match the rifle. The first is a Swarovski Habicht 3-12x50mm with 30mm tube. The second is a Swarovski 3-12 DT laser rangefinding riflescope. The DT scope is very cool as it is setup with a pressure switch to range a target giving instant feedback with range value within the reticle allowing you to range your target and take a shot without losing your sight within the scope. The stock is a nicely figured English walnut with ebony forend tip finished in a deep rich London Best oil finish and as gold escutcheon with the initial “JT” in script and the rear sling swivel near the leather covered recoil pad. This 300 comes cased in a factory Holland & Holland Leather takedown case (keys included) with all accessories and canvas cover. LOP is 13-1/2" over the ½’ leather covered recoil pad and weight is 9.6 lbs scoped (7.75 lbs without scope).
Overall rifle is in like new condition with deep rich bluing, excellent case colors on the grip cap and recoil bolts as well as near flowless stock finish. The only wear is a few slight rub marks of finish wear on the barrel and slight rubbing wear on the leather covered recoil pad. This rifle has likely been shot but has obviously been very well cared for.
This rifle shows to be proofed in 1998 but I believe it was delivered around 2000.
This is a beautiful example of high-end British gunmaking at its finest in the premier Plains and Medium game chambering being the “original 300 Magnum” made by its namesake maker. Rifles like this do not become available often and would likely cost over $100k to replicate today.
