.44RF Henry. 20" round barrel. SN: 49259 (mfg. ca1870). Blued barrel, brass frame and furniture, color casehardened lever and hammer, smooth straight gripped walnut stock with crescent buttplate, smooth walnut forend. Lever action repeating tubular magazine carbine with loading gate. Barrel weakly marked in two lines: WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING ARMS NEW HAVEN CT. / KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29 1866, OCTOBER 16, 1860. Serial number stamped on trigger plate tang, partially concealed by the lever. Folding leaf rear sight with aperture in long leaf for 300-yards. Front sight integral with forward barrel band. Saddle ring on reverse of frame. Trapdoor in butt for three-piece cleaning rods, which are present. Mechanically functional.
